Earth Day’s 45th Anniversary – and more

Greg n Cindy body crop45 years ago, I was just 19 when I played a few songs for the very first Earth Day – I celebrated in Springfield, Missouri, finishing my first year of college.  (This tintype photo was taken about that time in Silver Dollar City, MO, at one of those tourist places that loan vintage clothes for the pic.)

Last Tuesday, invited to play a few songs on Earth Matters, I reprised one of those songs from my first Earth Day performance – “Mother Earth.”  If you missed the show Tuesday morning, it covered all the local Earth Day events and will be re-broadcast this Thursday, April 16, 8 pm on KURU, 89.1 FM or streaming live on GMCR.org (8 pm MDT).

This Saturday, if you’re celebrating Earth Day, I expect I’ll see you (my Silver City friends) at Gough Park, downtown, where activities will be going on from 10 am til 2 pm.  I’ll be playing with Charlie Alfero and the newly revived Gypsy Feet Band – Jeff “Santa Rita Slim” Ray, Dale Rucklos, and Paul DeMarco – from 11 to noon that day.  See ya there.

20150410_181927Saturday evening, the Gypsy Feet Band will play again at Diane’s Parlor, 510 N Bullard Street, in beautiful downtown Silver City.  Free.  Fine food and drink, and fine folks.  6:30 – 9-ish.

greg n scott @dianesSunday, 19th, 1-3 pm:  The Loose Blues Band will perform classic blues, rock, folk, and country at Yankie Creek Coffee House, Texas and Yankie Streets, in the heart of the downtown arts district, Silver City.  Free.

IMG_2782Our gardens are blooming and might be calling us to stay home, but let’s get out this Saturday and celebrate the beauty with our local communities!

And thanks for supporting local music!

Love and Peace to you all,

Greg
