Yes, Charlie and I have been inspired by the Gila Wilderness to write quite a few songs about it, and here’s one.
We performed Charlie’s “Simple Things” unplugged on October 4, 2014, at Yankie Creek Coffee House.
(iPhone video by Jeff Ray. Audio by iPhone! A few video edits by Jean. Dale Rucklos is sitting in on this song for the first time.)
Check it out! “Simple Things”:
Southwest New Mexico IS “best kept” a secret, don’t you think?
Playing at the Farmer’s Market last Saturday with the Loose Blues Band, the weather was beautiful, and the crowds were enjoying one of the last markets of the season, friends, and of course purchasing good food – all this is pretty special – but the Gila Wilderness and all the lands around us make this place supremely special – which is why I wrote the song “Best Kept Secret” (recorded in 2008 on our CD).
Charlie and I performed it “unplugged” two Saturdays ago at Yankie Creek Coffee House, and our friend Jeff Ray captured it on his camera phone, and Jean gave it a little edit and posted it here (scroll down a bit). (Scrolling further, you’ll find our album version.)
Thanks for watching. It’s all you’ll see of me this week!
Charlie and I will be playing (with friends, which always pumps the energy up a notch) at Diane’s Parlor the last two Fridays of this month, the 24th and 31st. Hope to see you there!
And thanks always for supporting your local musicians!
